Avon Indiana has a notable high school, especially for their band.  The Avon Senior high school marching band is well known throughout the country. The Avon Marching Black and Gold, led by Jay Webb, Matt Harloff, Daniel Wiles, Karl Hartman, and also Robert Burns, was rated primary in the state of Indiana by the Indiana State College Music Association (ISSMA) 7 years straight (2 times in Course B, five times in Class A). The winning touch ended during the ISSMA state championship on November 1, 2008, when they positioned the 2nd. They once again positioned initially in Class A on October 31, 2009, and also on October 30, 2010, noting their ninth state champion in just ten years. On November 15, 2008, they were ranked as the most effective high school marching band in the nation, positioning initially throughout Bands of America Grand Nationals for the very first time in the school’s background. They won once again in 2009 and also 2010, making them the very first band to win 3 years in a row because of Marian Catholic in 1989. In 2011, they positioned second.
