Save Water
It is spring so we feel comfortable that water is plentiful, but what will happen in July and August when it could be a bit like a drought?
We found some tips to save water that you can apply to your garden.
- Use landscape factory to keep the weeds out and from using up the water.
- Put a quick release on your hose to change between sprinkler options
- Mulch can slow down the evaporation of water.
- Have taller grass and mow less often. Taller grass has deeper roots, less space for weeds to grow, and needs less water.
- Use a rain gauge to make sure your water sprinkler system is watering enough.
- Set a timer on your hose to keep from over watering. Have it turn off and let the water set, then have it turn on again.
- Try drip irrigation
- Use a rain barrel to collect water.
- Plant drought tolerant plants.
- Adjust sprinklers to water the lawn and not the driveway.
- Water in the early morning to avoid evaporation.
